CUBIC is proud to announce a significant milestone achieved by our partner, SPECIFIC POLYMERS, in advancing the sustainability and circularity of high-tech composite materials. They have successfully synthesized three new bio-based epoxy resins, which are designed specifically for the 3RCAN bio-based epoxy system. This innovation represents a critical step in developing more sustainable materials for the next generation of complex products.

CUBIC presents an innovative solution to improve the sustainability and circularity of complex products made of high-tech advanced multi-material composite structures, by developing novel biomaterials.

Within the CUBIC project SPECIFIC POLYMERS will first produce bisphenol free biobased epoxy resins. Then, in order to increase materials carbon content and bring recyclability features, novel biobased reversible epoxy or amine molecules will be designed and synthesized. In a third step, the last components will be formulated together with specific additives and systems will be adjusted to fit as well pre-preg resin and final cured material specifications. Finally, the selected resins and molecules will be upscaled (up to 25 – 35 kg) to produce material for B2B semi-finished products manufacturing.

SPECIFIC POLYMERS is also instrumental in the creation of digital tools for process materials modeling and optimization, bringing together innovation and digitalization.
